PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently obtaining microorganisms having dephosphorization activities in a short time. SOLUTION: The method for culturing the microorganisms having the dephosphorization activities by using culture liquid containing starch is the excellent one by which the microorganisms having the dephosphorization activities are grown at extremely rapid rate compared to the method for culturing the microorganisms by using a material except the starch as a carbon source. When culturing the microorganisms, the microorganisms having the dephosphorization activities can be cultured by keeping the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the culture liquid at≥1 mg/L. When a specific growth rate of the microorganisms having the dephosphorization activities is≥2.0 (1/day), the microorganisms can be produced industrially suitably. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
