The drinks can (1) is cylindrical, with a flat lid. The rivet holding the opening mechanism is situated in the center of the lid. The opening mechanism consists of a lever with a sharpened end (5) which can tilt on the rivet and pierce a thin or weakened portion of the lid. A sealing pad may be held on the rivet between the opening lever and the top surface of the lid. It can be rotated to cover and seal the lid. The lid may have deep drawn weakening lines (7).
