A hybrid vehicle drive control appliance has an electric generator (16) mechanically joined to a motor (11) in such a way that it has a rotational difference relative to the motor (11). A generator brake (B) is provided for mechanically stopping rotation of the generator and a generator brake engagement control unit (91) gradually reduces generator torque while the generator brake (B) is engaged. An Independent claim is also included for a program of a drive control method for a hybrid vehicle.
