Determination of speed of a moving object such as an automobile is based upon mobile phone moving between GSM cell boundaries

The speed of mobile objects such as automobiles is determined based upon a turned on mobile telephone within the vehicle. As the object moves (7) it passes through a GSM network consisting of communication cells (2-5). The transfer between cells triggers a timing process and is related to distance so allowing speed to be computed.
