PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily select an optimum color space for an image to be taken when users select the color space when taking an image. SOLUTION: In a prescribed color gamut, a region other than the color gamut is discriminated according to imaging conditions and image generation parameters. The region other than the color gamut as well as a taken image retrieved from image pickup elements is discriminated to be displayed on a display screen of a monitor device such as an electronic viewfinder or the like, so that the optimum imaging condition and the image generation parameters can be selected according to the color gamut of the color space set in taking the image and to an image reproduction scope of an output device or the like. Further, even in the case of a recorded image that has been taken, an output result to the monitor and a printer or the like can be estimated by displaying the region other than the color gamut according to the imaging conditions when taking the image and to the image generation parameters.
