PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ADSL model which is capable of automatically repeat releasing and re-acquisition of a line with fixed time intervals at the end of data communication to restart the data communication at a line speed matching the state of the line, and superior in usability and convenience. SOLUTION: The ADSL modem is equipped with a line releasing/re-acquiring means 8 having a line interface means 10, a line control means 11, a timer means 12, a data buffer means 13 and a control means 14, an open line/acquisition means 8 having an acquisition switch 16, a storage means 15, and a terminal interface means 17.
