PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flickering of a screen in remote control operation. SOLUTION: A backlight is controlled so as to fix a pulse width of a PWM signal to a last value for a fixed time period after a microcomputer 13 detects an input of a remote control signal. Thereby, even when the remote control signal is made incident on a photosensor 17 to detect ambient illuminance, a detected illuminance value based on the incident remote control signal is neglected for a fixed time period and backlight luminance just before the incidence of the remote control signal is maintained.
