PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discriminable coated optical fiber which has a discrimination layer having an excellent discriminating function, prevented from easily disappearing or being peeled and simultaneously prevented from causing the transmission loss of the coated optical fiber, and to prevent the erroneous connection of the coated optical fiber at the terminal of an optical fiber cable when forming the optical fiber cable by using the discriminable coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: The problem is solved by obtaining the discriminable coated optical fiber constituted of the discrimination layer consisting of an ink layer intermittently provided in the longitudinal direction of an optical fiber and a coloring layer covering over the discrimination layer, and constituting the discrimination layer so that the occupancy ratio of the total length of the discrimination layer to the necessary length of the discriminable optical fiber is≤20%.
