PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens moving mechanism which has a simple configuration with a lens barrel movable smoothly and with high accuracy by further improving the lens barrel moving mechanism of a liquid crystal projector and to provide the liquid crystal projecting using the lens moving mechanism. SOLUTION: This lens moving mechanism for moving a lens holding member 20 holding the lens barrel 15 provided with a projection lens for projecting light having image information in a Z axis and an X axis is provided with a tracking member, a moving member and first and second guiding mechanisms 23, 23, 24, 24 provided with a plurality of rolling elements, etc., arranged between a rolling element forwarding surface of the tracking member and a rolling element forwarding surface.
