PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for pelletizing a raw material for iron making which is effective in pelletizing raw materials for sintering by increasing the proportion of an effective component in limestone to be a binder used when pelletizing the raw materials for sintering, such as iron-ore fines, in the manufacture of sintered ore to be a raw material for iron making. SOLUTION: The method for pelletizing the raw material for iron making includes a process of pelletizing the raw material for iron making. Pelletizing is carried out while regulating the proportion of particles of a size of 1 to 10μm of limestone in the whole limestone so that it ranges from 3 to 50 mass%. It is preferable to carry out pelletizing while adding a pelletizing agent for iron making containing, as an essential component, a high-molecular compound having a carboxyl group and/or its salt to the raw material for iron making.
