PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aminoimidazole carboxamide by which a high-purity white crystal of the free aminoimidazole carboxamide represented by formula (1) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>is hydrogen atom, a 1-4C alkyl group which may have a substituent, a 6-10C aryl group which may have a substituent, a heterocyclic group which may have a substituent, or a 7-11C aralkyl group which may have a substituent) is produced, and which is appliable to industrial production. SOLUTION: The method for producing the aminoimidazole carboxamide represented by formula (1) comprises a step for carrying out a decoloration treatment of an organic solvent solution of the aminoimidazole carboxamide represented by formula (1) by using a decolorizer and a step for crystallizing the aminoimidazole carboxamide represented by formula (1) by adding poor solvent to the solution obtained by the decoloration treatment, and carrying out solid-liquid separation of the resultant mixture.
