PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vessel where an optical semiconductor is hermetically sealed, which is kept high in airtightness even when an environmental temperature changes repeatedly, mounted with a lens, and easily assembled. SOLUTION: In the optical semiconductor hermetically-sealed vessel, provided that the height of a cylinder is represented by L2 and the thickness of a light transmitting window or half the thickness of a lens is represented by L1, L1 and L2 are so set as to satisfy formula, L2/L1≥4, and a cap composed of the cylinder and the light transmitting window or the lens which satisfy the formula is prepared. In a case where the above formula is satisfied, a residual stress is small when the cap is welded to a vessel main body, fissures hardly occur in the welded part of the cap even when an environmental temperature changes repeatedly, so that the optical semiconductor hermetically-sealed vessel can be kept airtight. When the optical semiconductor hermetically-sealed vessel is manufactured, the light transmitting window or the lens is glass-brazed to the cylinder to form the cap, and the cap is bonded to the vessel main body by electrical welding.
