<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a client/server system using an intermediating machine wherein a server is accessed from an unregistered instrument while maintaining conventional robustness. <P>SOLUTION: The invention includes a client 1 having functions for acquiring information of a living organism as an image and for extracting characteristic information of the living organism from the acquired image, a server 2 for performing identity authentication with the information of the living organism and instrument specification information and the intermediating machine 3 for intermediating the client 1 and the server 2. The instrument specification information of the client 1 is not registered in the server and the instrument specification information of the intermediating machine 3 is registered in the server 2 as a registered instrument.
