PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional model deformation system for limiting an influence range of an operation point of FED. SOLUTION: The system can correspond to local deformation and global deformation by changing a local control value (standard deviation) when a means (GFFD) of FFD based on a Gaussian function, which inventors have proposed so far, is used in deformation of a three-dimensional model. When GFFD is used, the influence range of the operation point becomes infinite. Thus, the inventors supply a means for using a cosine function and a cosine-n power function (n is integer of 2 or above) for a basis function of FED. Thus, the influence range of the operation point can be limited by the local control value with the means of FFD based on the cosine function and the cosine-n power function. When the means is used for the three-dimensional model deformation system, enlargement of a use range can be expected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
