PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer particle that disperses stably in water and has ultraviolet shielding ability for a wide range of wavelengths by forming the polymer particle through copolymerization of a polymerizable ultraviolet absorbing monomer and making the particle have inner holes. SOLUTION: The polymer particle contains 1-50 wt.% of (a) a crosslinkable monomer, 1-94 wt.% of (b) a hydrophilic monomer, 5-49 wt.% of (c) a polymerizable ultraviolet absorbing monomer, 100 wt.% of a copolymer of a polymerizable monomer component consisting of 0-93 wt.% of another polymerizable monomer which is copolymerizable with the monomers (a), (b) and (c) and 1-100 wt.% of a different kind of polymer which has a composition different from that of the above copolymer.
