PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovery system for fullerene-containing soot-like matter by which fullerene-containing soot-like matter can be caught and recovered from a high temperature exhaust gas stably over a long period, and to provide a recovery method therefor. SOLUTION: The recovery system 10 comprises a recovery system body 13 stored with filtering elements 12 in which fullerene-containing soot-like matter is stuck to one side thereof from a high temperature exhaust gas exhausted from a fullerene production furnace 11 to catch the same, and the exhaust gas is allowed to penetrate to the other side, and a powder storage tank 14 provided on the lower part of the recovery system body 13, and stored with the stuck fullerene-containing soot-like matter. In the use of the recovery system 10, the spalling operation of the fullerene-containing soot-like matter stuck to each filtering element 12 is performed per filtering element 12 or per filtering element group 26 composed so as to collect the plurality of filtering elements 12.
