PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst exhibiting a strong photocatalytic action under visible light irradiation, titanium oxide as its catalyst component, and a photocatalyst coating agent containing it. SOLUTION: In the mass chromatogram determined by simultaneous thermogravimetry and mass spectrometry, the desorption peak of the component in the titanium oxide whose ratio, m/e, of mass number m to ion charge number e is 28, is at≥600°C.
