摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool having a hard coated layer exhibiting superior abrasion resistance under high speed cutting conditions. SOLUTION: This surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool is so formed that the hard coated layer composed of complex nitrides of Al, Ti and Nb of 1-15μm in the whole average layer thickness is physically vapor-deposited on the surface of a cemented carbide base. A Ti maximum containing point and a Ti minimum containing point are alternately and repeatedly present at prescribed intervals along the layer thickness direction. The hard coated layer has a component concentration distribution structure wherein the Ti content is continuously changed between the Ti maximum containing point and the Ti minimum containing point, the Ti maximum containing point satisfies a composition formula: (Al<SB>1-(X+Y)</SB>Ti<SB>X</SB>Nb<SB>Y</SB>) N (wherein X shows 0.35-0.55 and Y shows 0.01-0.15 in an atom ratio), the Ti minimum containing point satisfies a composition formula: (Al<SB>1-(Z+Y)</SB>Ti<SB>Z</SB>Nb<SB>Y</SB>) N (wherein Z shows 0.05-0.25 and Y shows 0.01-0.15 in an atom ratio), and the interval between the Ti maximum containing point and the Ti minimum containing point is set to become 0.01-0.1μm.
