CENTRIFUGAL BLOOD PUMP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of thrombus by solving the stay of blood especially around the bearing of a rotary shaft in a centrifugal pump for blood. SOLUTION: The centrifugal blood pump is provided with a casing 2, an impeller 1 provided rotatably in a pump chamber 9 in this casing 2; pivot bearings 26 and 27 for supporting the impeller 1 in the direction of the rotary shaft; a drive 3 which acts on a magnet 14 provided at the impeller 1 to rotate and drive the impeller 1; and a flowing means F of staying blood around the pivot bearings 26 and 27. The flowing means F consists of respectively one pairs of large and small stirring impellers formed around the rotary shaft at the bottom surface of the impeller 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
