SOLID CATALYST COMPONENT FOR OLEFIN POLYMERIZATION AND CATALYST

A solid catalyst component for olefin polymerization which is prepared by contacting a dialkoxymagnesium (a), a halogenated tetravalent-titanium compound (b), and an electron-donating compound (c) represented by the general formula R<1>R<2>C(COOR<3>)2 with one another while suspending these ingredients in an aromatic hydrocarbon compound (d) having a boiling point of 50 to 150°C. A catalyst containing the catalyst component, when used for olefin polymerization, has excellent activity against hydrogen and can yield a highly stereoregular polymer in a high yield.
