The guidance device has a guide (17) positioned adjacent the surface of an application roller (12) for development of the latent image, with the photoconductive band (11) acting as the latent image carrier passed between them. The guide is provided with a number of air jets (21) facing the photoconductive band, for providing an air cushion determining the spacing of the photoconductive band from the application roller. The air jets may be provided by a porous region (22) of the guide.
