PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection apparatus and a communication system for constructing a system, in which there is no momentary break off of a device connected to a communication network provided with the mobile unit such as a vehicle, even if a device brought from an outside of a mobile unit is connected to the communication network, at low costs while maintaining high speed communication. SOLUTION: A first communication network NW1 provided with the mobile unit such as the vehicle and a second communication network NW2 to connect the device brought into the mobile unit are connected by a connection apparatus 10 with a gateway function, relay processing of synchronous communication required real-time response is performed by a first relay means 12 using an integrated circuit such as a specified LSI with a high processing speed, and asynchronous communication not required the real-time response is performed by executing a computer program by a second relay means 13.
