PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DVD reproducing apparatus and its screen display method for preventing the operability of an operation key included on a contents screen peculiar to a DVD from being lost by displaying the operation menu peculiar to the apparatus. SOLUTION: When a contents screen 121 and an apparatus menu 122 are displayed simultaneously, a video signal outputted from a DVD reading means is subjected to signal processing by a screen reduction section so that the contents screen can be reduced as compared with an original screen. As a result, even if the contents screen 121 and the apparatus menu 122 are simultaneously displayed on a display, the overlapping of the contents screen 121 and the apparatus menu 122 can be avoided, thus operating all keys included the contents screen 121 and the apparatus menu 122.
