PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit only reading of data from a general user and to rewrite/update data without the need of a verification procedure and a switching operation by a manager so as to securely protect/manage data preserved in a server in a data protection device. SOLUTION: A controller part 2A has interfaces 6a and 6b connected to a manager storage device 2a and a public storage device 2b. A general user computer 14 is connected to the public storage device 2b. A manager input device 13 is connected to the manager storage device 2a. A control function copying data of the management storage device 2a that is rewritten/updated by the manager into the public storage device 2b at prescribed time is provided.
