PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable which is small in a diameter, improves a loss characteristic and is excellent in workability, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This optical fiber cable is composed of a long-length optical element part 11 that covers with a cable sheath an optical fiber core wire 3 consisting of a single or a plurality of wires or coated optical fiber tapes, an intervention body 5 that collectively and roughly winds all of the optical fiber core wires 3, and tension bodies 7 for optical elements arranged parallelly at both sides near the intervention body 5. Notch parts 13 are formed on the surface of the cable sheath 9 at both sides of the intervention body 5 perpendicularly to the direction of connecting the respective tension bodies 7 for optical elements.
