PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch device having a small thickness and excellent quality. SOLUTION: This switch device 1 has: a transparent cover plate 2 constituting a switch front face; a plate-like body 3 disposed behind the cover plate 2 and formed of a translucent material; a phosphor layer 4 formed on the plate surface of the plate-like body 3; a board 5 disposed behind the plate-like body 3; sensors 6 mounted on the board 5; an LED 7 disposed by facing the end face of the plate-like body 3 as a light source; and a case 8 constituting an outer shell of the switch device. The sensors 6 are used for detecting a detecting object such as a human finger approaching from the front side of the cover plate 2. When the LED 7 is lit, the phosphor layer 4 generates fluorescence which can clearly be viewed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
