PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline dry cell excellent in both strong-load discharge characteristics and medium-load discharge characteristics, and suppressed in the deterioration of light-load discharge characteristics. SOLUTION: In the alkaline dry cell equipped with a negative electrode, an alkaline electrolyte and a positive electrode containing manganese dioxide and graphite powder, the positive electrode contains TiO(OH)<SB>2</SB>in an amount corresponding to 0.01-3 wt% of the manganese dioxide, and a half peak widthβof an X-ray diffraction peak in the (101) surface of TiO(OH)<SB>2</SB>is 0.25°-1.30°.
