ELECTRONIC FILING SYSTEM WITH SCAN PLACEHOLDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a situation that it is inconvenient to execute reservation and replacement of files to large amounts of paper documents when a prospective file is processed by an electronic filing system. SOLUTION: In the electronic document filing system, explicit expression of a document file which does not exist yet but clearly forecasted by the system is provided by using a placeholder object. The placeholder object may be an actual filing system object and may include filing system data such as file meta data in the same way as that of the filing object of another optional filing system. The meta data can be associated with a data source forecasted for the document file (for example, for automatic capture of the paper document from a scanner). COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
