PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure safety by turning on and off a safety switch by opening and closing a cover even when the number of components in an upper frame are increased to make the upper frame higher with the upgrading of functions in a washing machine and the height of a switch operating part becomes extremely higher than the fitting height of the safety switch in the washing machine for washing clothings or the like. SOLUTION: An upper part of a washing machine main body 1 is covered with an upper frame 11, an opening 12 of the upper frame 11 is covered with a lid 3 to be freely opened/closed, a safety switch 4 to be turned on/off in accordance with at least opening/closing of the lid 3 is provided within the upper frame 11, and a switch operating part 6 is extended at the back of the lid 3. A lid opening/closing detection lever 7 provided in the safety switch 4 and the switch operating part 6 are cooperated via a linking member 13. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
