PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high speed high quality recording even of an image having adjacent areas being recorded with different inks. SOLUTION: In a serial inkjet recorder using a recording head unit having a first nozzle array 401 for color ink and a second nozzle array 401 for black ink arranged in the scanning direction such that the head nozzles are located at the same position where the number of nozzles in the second nozzle array is equal to two times of the number of nozzles in the first nozzle array, an image is recorded by combining a plurality of times of first recording/scanning for performing recording by ejecting first ink using only the first nozzle array, a plurality of times of carriage of a recording medium by a distance corresponding to the length of the first nozzle array, and one time of second recording/scanning for performing recording by ejecting second ink using only nozzles in the second nozzle array equal to a plurality of times of nozzles included in the first nozzle array as a unit.
