PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment for preventing the leakage of CO-containing gas from a hot-well and a method and equipment for minimizing damage to the equipment occurring when cooling water overflows into the hot-well, for exhaust gas treatment equipment in a vacuum refining furnace. SOLUTION: A method for ventilating gas in a returned water storing vessel in an evacuating apparatus, is characterized in that the evacuation is performed by using a suction means from an exhaust gas duct connected with the upper part of the returned water storing vessel for water for condensers etc., in a vacuum refining facility provided with the evacuating apparatus and the gas for ventilating is introduced into the returned water storing vessel from the suction duct of the gas for ventilating connected with the upper part of the returned water storing vessel. Further, a water-sealing cover for returned water storing vessel composed of a partition cover disposed without being fixed, is arranged at the upper part of the returned water storing vessel of the water for condensers etc., in the vacuum refining facility provided with the evacuating apparatus.
