PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a cathode-ray tube capable of reducing a manufacturing cost by reducing adhesion of a contaminant to a coating surface, and occurrence of defects due to the contamination of the coating surface, and by reducing the use quantity of a coating solution for thin film formation. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of a cathode-ray tube is provided with a process for forming a thin film by applying a coating solution to the surface of a display part of the cathode-ray tube. The method is characterized by cleaning the surface to be coated of the display part surface by spraying a solution containing alcohol as a main constituent immediately before the coating of the coating solution.
