PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sash window which can secure watertightness well and which can eliminate the anxiety of a user. SOLUTION: A window frame 10 of the sash window 1 is formed with a drain opening 51 between a room-inside rail and a room-outside rail 124 and 125 of a lower frame 12 over the nearly whole range in the longitudinal direction of a range A corresponding to an outside sash 20B. The drain opening 51 can be opened larger than a conventional one, and rainwater can be smoothly drained. By this structure, the rainwater is hard to stay between each guide rail 124 and 125 to prevent the overflow of the rainwater inside the room, and the excellent water-tightness can be secured. The stay of the rainwater is not seen from inside since the rainwater does not remain in the guide rail, thus eliminating the anxiety of the user. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
