PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor identification device which reduces the number of detectors, eliminates the need for a modulation/demodulation circuit and an antenna, and which is capable of reducing the production cost of an apparatus. SOLUTION: Four pieces of magnets having mutual arrangement angles differentiated in accordance with the kind of a rotor are arranged on an arrangement grids which are set at equal angular intervals on the same circumference of a rotor 8. When the arrangement angle of the magnets 10 is detected, a plurality of magnetic sensors 21 are arranged at equal intervals of an angle larger than the arrangement grids and a prescribed calculation is performed with respect to the detected intensity of the magnet detected by the adjacent magnetic sensor.
