The selector unit for a transmission in a motor vehicle is mounted in a gearcase or frame and includes a selector lever guide (7) located below the pivot points (3,4) of a selector lever (1) and a crosspiece (2) and upon which are fitted at least one plate (8.1,8.2) which extends as far as bearing bushes (5.2,6.2) provided for the crosspiece and which effects a clamping action between bearing bushes and the gearcase (9) or frame in the axial with regard to the second selector pivot point (4).
