INTEGRATED OPTICAL HEAD HAVING COUPLER

PURPOSE: An integrated optical head having a coupler is provided to improve input coupling efficiency between a light source and a light guide layer, and output coupling efficiency between the light guide layer and an optical disc. CONSTITUTION: An integrated optical head includes a light source, a wave guide(105), an input coupler(103), an output coupler(107), a beam path converter, and photo-detectors(113a,113b). The wave guide guides a light beam emitted from the light source. The input coupler is located on one side of the top of the wave guide and couples the light beam to transmit it to the wave guide. The output coupler is located at the other side of the top of the wave guide and couples a light beam output from the wave guide to focus the beam on an optical disc(120). The beam path converter is provided on the wave guide and changes a path of a light beam that has been reflected from the optical disc and passed through the output coupler. The photo-detector receives the beam output from the beam path converter and converts the received beam into an electric signal to detect information of the optical disc.
