A method of inducing the expression of a gene under the regulation by an operator at an actinomycetes self-regulator provision site, which comprises imparting the characters of a repressor and an operator constituting a gene expression inducing system with the use of the actinomycetes self-regulator as an inducer to a plant by gene transfer, and then providing the actinomycetes self-regulator to the plant thus transformed. By using this method, a desired gene can be expressed at a desired point at a desired site of a plant, which makes it possible to produce a metabolite, which is even disadvantageous in the growth of the plant, in the plant. This method is also useful in controlling the fertility to thereby prevent transformed plants from scattering into the surroundings. |
