<p>The cargo system includes a system for transferring a load on to a railway truck from a road vehicle. A transfer support (210) is mounted on the rear of the road vehicle with a mechanism (202) for moving this from the road vehicle on to the railway transport vehicle. The system for handling cargo includes a railway transport vehicle (2) with a system for transferring a load on to this vehicle from a road vehicle. The railway vehicle is used for long distance transport, whilst the road vehicle is used for local transport. A transfer support (210) is mounted on the rear of the road vehicle with a mechanism (202) for moving this from the road vehicle on to the railway transport vehicle. The road vehicle is lifted to the level of the railway vehicle, and stabilised by jacks (218), before the transfer mechanism (202) moves the support (210) from the back of the road vehicle and rolls it laterally on to the railway vehicle.</p> |
