A signaling transfer point (STP) forms a component in a first logical network (NID1) along with a first network element (HLR) and other network elements (MSC1-MSC8). The STP is also a component of a second logical network (NID2) and links to the HLR via first (LS9) and second (LS10) connecting groups. The STP also links to the other network elements via each one of further connecting groups (LS1-LS8). An Independent claim is also included for a signaling transfer point in an SS7 network.
