INVERTER FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PURPOSE: An inverter for a liquid crystal display is provided to control a brightness of a lamp located behind a liquid crystal display panel according to a duty ratio of the lamp. CONSTITUTION: An inverter for a liquid crystal display includes an inverter controller(51), a power switch, and a booster(53). The inverter controller generates a reference waveform for pulse width modulation, and pulse-width-modulates the reference waveform in response to a dimming signal to generate a lamp driving signal having a turn-on section and a turn-off section. The inverter controller controls turn-on time of the lamp driving signal according to a vertical synchronous signal. The power switch controls output of DC voltage according to a signal of the inverter controller. The booster transforms the voltage of the lamp driving signal to a high voltage using a transformer and applies the lamp driving signal having the high-voltage to a lamp(40).
