Steering system for vehicles

The steering system has a steering control (1) operated by the driver, e.g. a steering wheel, vehicle wheels (4) that can be steered by a steering control drive, a steering angle demand generating transducer (6) actuated by the steering control, an actual angle sensor (9) actuated by the steerable wheels, a regulating and control arrangement (8) and a collision avoidance arrangement (33). The collision avoidance arrangement determines a steering angle that allows a collision to occur between the vehicle and an obstruction.
