The device for the indicating of the closed state of a fifth wheel coupling (1) has a hole to accommodate a kingpin (3) and a computing device connected to a first (6) and a second (7) sensor. The first sensor is located in the region of the hole and detects the kingpin, and the second sensor comprises a magnetic-sensitive sensor which interacts with a magnet (9) fitted to an operating lever (4). Both sensors depend upon different working mechanisms. An indicator is installed in the driver's cab of the vehicle. An Independent claim is included for an arrangement of a first sensor on the fifth wheel coupling.
