New derivatives (I) of bis-para-phenylenediamine substituted with a pyrrolidinyl group, and their addition salts. The new bis-para-phenylenediamine derivatives are of formula (I). n, n' = 0-4; R1, R2 = halogen, 1-6C hydrocarbon chain in which one or more carbon atoms may be replaced by O or N or Si or S or SO or SO2 and which does not include a peroxide bond nor diazo or nitro or nitroso radical and which may be substituted with one or more halogen or one or more hydroxy or 1-6C alkoxy or amino or mono- or dialkyl(1-6C)amino or trialkyl(1-6C)ammonium or N-alkyl(1-6C)imidazolinium; A = covalent bond, 1-14C alkylene in which one or more carbon atoms may be replaced by an onium Z and/or by O or S or Si or N or CO or SO or SO2 and which may be substituted with one or more halogen or one or more hydroxy or 1-6C alkoxy or amino or alkyl(1-6C)amino or dialkyl(1-6C)amino; R6, R7 = H, carboxyl, alkyl(1-4C)carboxyl, carbamoyl, (di)alkyl(1- 4C)carbamoyl, trialkyl(1-6C)silane, trialkyl(1-6C)ammonium, N-alkyl(1-6C)imidazolinium, 1- 15C alkyl optionally substituted with one or more hydroxy or alkyl(1-6C)oxy or amino or mono- or dialkyl(1-6C)amino or thiol or alkyl(1-6C)sulfonic or halogen or carboxylic or alkyl(1-6C)carbonyl or carbamoyl or mono- or dialkyl(1-6C)carbamoyl or trialkyl(1-6C)silane or trialkyl(1-6C)ammonium or N-alkyl(1-6C)imidazolinium; R8, R9 = H, hydroxyl, alkyl(1- 4C)oxy, amino, mono- or dialkyl(1-4C)amino, thiol, carboxyl, alkyl(1-4C)carboxyl, carbamoyl, (di)alkyl(1-4C)carbamoyl, trialkyl(1-6C)silane, trialkyl(1-6C)ammonium, N- alkyl(1-6C)imidazolinium, 1-15C alkyl optionally substituted with one or more hydroxy or alkyl(1-6C)oxy or amino or mono- or dialkyl(1-6C)amino or thiol or alkyl(1-6C)sulfonic or halogen or carboxylic or alkyl(1-6C)carbonyl or carbamoyl or mono- or dialkyl(1- 6C)carbamoyl or trialkyl(1-6C)silane or trialkyl(1-6C)ammonium or N-alkyl(1- 6C)imidazolinium. Independent claims are also included for (1) a dye composition comprising compounds (I); (2) a method of dyeing hair using the composition and an oxidant agent; (3) a device containing several compartments in one of which is the dye composition and in another the oxidant agent.
