Polymeric urea-urethanes as thickener and process for its preparation

Polyurea-urethane (I) is obtained by (1) reacting a stoichiometric excess of diisocyanate(s) (II) with polyol(s) (III) to give a mixture (IV) of urethane prepolymer, NCO-terminated on both sides, and excess (II); and (2) reacting (IV) with a mixture of primary monoamine(s) (V) and primary diamine(s) (VI), with 0.1-45 equivalents (VI)/100 equivalents (V) + (VI), to (I) free from (II), (V) and (VI). Reaction is carried out in a polar aprotic solvent. An Independent claim is also included for preparation of (I) in this way.
