The filling device has a distributing element (7) extending to the flooding vessel (3). The distributing element sends all the fuel to the flooding vessel when a low volume of fuel is in the filling connection (2). When the volume in it is high, the greater part of the fuel goes directly to the tank (1). Therefore, where there is risk of flooding, practically all the fuel goes to the flooding vessel.
