PURPOSE: A method for managing an address directory and transmitting a message in a mobile terminal is provided to easily search an address directory by managing the address directory in the form of a tree and to easily transfer a group message by simplifying the preparation of a list. CONSTITUTION: If a user inputs an arbitrary phone number and pushes a storage button(11), the mobile terminal displays the inputted phone number and a menu bar to appoint a group for the inputted phone number(13). If the user pushes a search button, the mobile terminal displays the address directory in a tree structure divided into many groups and waits until the user selects a desired group(14). If the user selects a group of 'friend' and pushes a selection button, the mobile terminal displays 'friend' as a group name on the menu bar(15).
