PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power failure detecting system capable of quickly detecting power failure, if a power supply stops, without increasing the harmonics that affect the system. SOLUTION: A convertor that converts AC, connected to an AC power supply into DC, includes a means of applying a prescribed harmonic current to a power supply side, a means of detecting or calculating the voltage or the frequency of the power supply, and a power failure detecting means for detecting that the AC power supply is in failed state, based on the voltage or the frequency of the power supply.
