PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of readily visibly identifying a selecting state of either an optical zoom operating state where recording image quality does not degrade but magnification is low or an electronic zoom operating state where the recording image quality degrades but magnification is high. SOLUTION: When this camera is set while only an optical zoom means operates, it is controlled so that a display means displays only a first displaying area. The display means displays an area which allows first zoom magnification to be readily visibly identified when the optical zoom means operates, an area which allows second zoom magnification to be readily visibly identified when the electronic zoom means operates, and a boundary of the areas.
