PURPOSE: A workpiece slip preventing apparatus of wire rod rolling mill is provided which prevents the workpiece from slipping with rolls during metal-in of the workpiece by roughly processing a certain length of the top end part of workpiece. CONSTITUTION: The workpiece slip preventing apparatus comprises upper and lower embossing rolls(12,13) which are moved to upper and lower parts of a housing(11) positioned in rear of the rough rolling section or/and intermediate rolling section of a wire rod rolling line, and on the surface of which a sawtoothed embossing is formed so that the upper and lower embossing rolls are capable of roughly processing the top end of workpiece; upper and lower supporting members(14,15) one end of which is connected to the housing, and to an end of which both shafts of the embossing rolls are rotationally supported so that the upper and lower supporting members are arranged oppositely to each other centering around the workpiece(110); and driving cylinders(20) connected between the housing and the upper and lower supporting members to rotate the upper and lower supporting members, wherein the workpiece slip preventing apparatus further comprises a control means comprising a sensing sensor and a controller to control operation of driving means depending on whether the workpiece is entered or not, wherein the workpiece slip preventing apparatus further comprises an impact preventing means comprising holes, upper and lower pressing stands, elastic springs and adjusting bolts(34), and wherein the workpiece slip preventing apparatus further comprises a mist injection means comprising injection nozzles(50), air pipe(51) and cooling water pipe(52) to remove scale on the surface part of the workpiece.
