PURPOSE: A device for switching a head lamp for an up-right type vacuum cleaner is provided to reduce the consumption of electricity by switching on the head lamp when a user performs cleaning actually. CONSTITUTION: A device(40) for switching a head lamp is composed of a cylindrical tube(42) horizontally formed in a cleaner body, a shaft(44) installed in the cylindrical tube, a guide(46) rotatably installed at the shaft, a weight(46a) fixed to the guide and always facing downward, a balancing plate(46b) preventing the weight from shaking, a first terminal(48a) installed at the outer circumference of the weight, and a second terminal(48b) installed at the inner circumference of the cylindrical tube. The second terminal is electrically connected to the first terminal and switches on the head lamp when the cleaner body rotates to a suction nozzle.
